Fused Glass Art by Elyse Ellinger

I was born in New York City and have been working with some form of art ever since. I was fortunate enough to attend the renowned High School of Music and Art in Manhattan and then continued my studies at the State University of New York, Binghamton and the University of California, Los Angeles.

I became fascinated with fused glass after seeing some work a friend made.  Until then, I didn't know it was possible to work with glass except as a glassblower. I fell in love with the transparency and brilliance of glass so I took a few workshops, most notably with Patty Gray and Tim Harlan. I was completely hooked; I love to play with color and try different techniques.

To me fusing with glass is sort of like baking, but much more fun & with a much longer lasting end result. You assemble all the ingredients, fire them in the kiln, and then wait for that magical transformation. You never know exactly what is going to happen.

I have participated in several local boutiques, most notably the Artistic License Faire, the Tustin CHOC Home Tour Boutique, Mission Viejo Gifts and Goodies Boutique, the Yorba Linda Arts Alliance Celebration of the Arts, the Fallbrook Avocado Festival and numerous private events.

I invite you to take a look at my work. I hope it will give you as much pleasure to view it as it gives me to make it.
